Garance, we're fans...

How awesome are these posters from Garance Dore's new shop?  The only problem is deciding which one we want and which one we want to gift.  LOVE.

billabong design for humanity

this event rocked! i had sooooo much fun -- saw so many old industry friends, listened to some amazing music, watched artists create some kick ass pieces, enjoyed some tasty cocktails, checked out some insane art pieces in the silent auction, enjoyed all the people watching, watched the bikini fashion show, & had some really funny photos taken in photo booths --- and all for a good cause!
it was held at paramount studios lot in hollywood, so it felt like we were partying in the streets of nyc

here's a video showing some highlights...

poketo x target

check out the adorable stuff hitting target stores next month...
target teamed up with poketo, an LA-based arts collective that started with the simple idea of making art more accessible to people who couldn't afford it.  they work with all kinds of artists & designers to make limited edition runs of their art... giving them a chance to get their work seen by a much larger audience than they would doing art shows/galleries.

the collection includes some super fun colored pieces, including wallets, tote bags, umbrellas, and key chains.

as if we all don't already end up buying more than we should when we step into target, now there's going to be even more temptation seeing how fun and cute this collection is!

full lookbook will be available on poketo on august 10th.

Loving Nikki McClure...

How much do you love these images? She's a local-ish artist from Olympia, WA and for the past few years, one Christmas gift I can usually count on is a Nikki McClure calendar (thanks, mom!). I love starting each month with one of her simple images and a single word. It's almost like setting an intention for the month. She also has originals, children's books, prints, notecards, etc.. Amazingly enough, she creates these images using an X-acto knife and a single sheet of paper.

If there's a baby in your life, I highly recommend this board book . . . It makes it about halfway through the alphabet, starting with Awake and ending with Nap. Too cute.

the little things...

You know what makes me happy?
...when friends visit far away places and bring back a little something for me. :)

and I love to do the same for my friends when I travel to other countries... It's the best!
Who doesn't love little goodies from other places in the world!?

So my awesome friend, sita (who you might remember from here) - just got back from traveling in Europe for work... And she brought me back this "kick ass" little print from Berlin.

how rad is he!? i love it what it says!

It's a 4" square framed print by the artist Andras Bartos.  you should check out the rest of his stuff... it's amazing. i love all the characters...  he also has a shop called united loneliness.

She got this one for another co-worker who has not one, but five chihuahuas! So perfect for her.

It's the little things... :)
Thanks sita! welcome back.
