it's a fun day for us down here in san diego... so i thought i'd share my friend Arsy's amazing skinny margarita recipe. she orders these all the time and she's gotten me into ordering them now too. 

they are so yummy and don't have the added/unnecessary sugars that most margies have! 

arsy's SGM

*good tequilla is a must (her fav is don julio)

tequilla on the rocks (with salt)

add fresh lime juice

soda water

splash of cointreau

give it a try next time you're out... the cointreau adds enough sweetness!

Happy 4th!

Any big plans for the weekend?! My family is in town and we have a lot of fun things on the agenda. We're headed to the farmer's market tomorrow morning and then the plan is to drive down to wine country for a couple of hours, which is so, so beautiful. We're also going to try to hit up the Waterfront Blues Festival at some point. Is it obvious I'm trying to convince the fam to move to Portland? :)

On Sunday we have a big family party/reunion to go to and I can't wait! I truly love nothing better than the smell of food being grilled, summer drinks and beer, healthy debates, kids and babies running around everywhere, lawn games, sunshine, laughter and, of course, fireworks.

earth.hour

just a reminder to everyone to participate in earth hour tonight!
earth hour is a movement where everyone in the world is urged to turn off all of their lights for one hour to help bring awareness about the impacts of climate change our earth is facing.
this happens at everyone's 8:30pm local time.

last year, i was in beijing for earth hour and they seem to make a way bigger deal about it over there.
it was amazing because there are so many city lights in china and to see so many go out for one hour was really cool. the hotel i was at had an "earth hour party" in their bar complete with "earth hour" cocktails.
